Hvide Sande Camping is constantly trying to make the site more and more handicap friendly. The site itself is level and stable for wheelchair users. There are disabled-friendly toilets and bathing facilities.
In Ringkøbing/Skjern Municipality, a lot of work is being done to facilitate access for the disabled. The municipality has, among other things, received several awards for the great work done in this connection.
In the municipality, 4 access roads have been constructed, which are particularly suitable for wheelchair users and those with walking difficulties. One is located so that there is access to the top of the dune at Badevej in Søndervig. A platform has been created here, from which there is a view of the beach and the sea. Another is located south of the lock at Hvide Sande Strand. Here, in the summer, there is disabled-friendly path access right down to the water’s edge. The last access road is built in connection with the outer pier on the north side at Hvide Sande Harbour.
Here, the access road provides the opportunity to get close to the entrance and the pier, and for wheelchair users to try their hand at angling. During the summer season, there are benches/tables and disabled toilet facilities in connection with the access roads. Also guests with e.g. prams and pushchairs can use these access roads to advantage.
A handicap-friendly access road to Troldebjerg, which is located by the lock in Hvide Sande, was built. From here there is a view of the entire dune, the entry and lock area, the harbor and the entire fjord around. The old bunkers are furnished with boards and a mini-museum that tells about the bunkers and their function during the Second World War. The access road has been established so that via stone-paved paths in a wheelchair you can drive all the way up to the top, where there are viewing platforms with safety railings.
